i forgive you for not knowing
my heart was made of glass
i can’t blame you for wanting to touch
my shiny edges and lift me from the shelf

whereas i cannot forgive myself
because i knew it all along
about the clinking in my chest
still i thought i could be strong

disgraced and helpless i surrendered
to the manners of a clumsy man
not used to handling a crystal this fine
you fixed yourself a glass of wine

i condone you for smothering me
between your fingers,
breaking my clear feeble bones
crying in pain as i penetrated your skin

blood all over your hands
my remains all over the floor
