There is a moment, when you write songs, when you realize you are not writing the song. You are listening to it.
That’s what happened with Light in the Night, my new single out October 10th on all streaming platforms.
For months I had an image in my head: not two people talking to each other, but a presence. Silent. Constant. The one that stays when everyone else leaves, when even you want to leave yourself.
So I changed the perspective. This time, I’m not the one singing. He is.
What the song is really about
In this song, the narrator is a Guardian Angel. Not the one from postcards, with white, shining wings. A grounded guardian, as tired as we are, who chose to stay.
He speaks to his ward in one of the darkest moments. Not to fix him. Not to say “just smile”. But to stay.
"I do not ask for smiles you cannot give,
Nor feign a sun where no bright rays can live."
This is the lyric I care about the most. We live in a time that asks us to be always productive, always bright. This song says the opposite: you don’t have to give me anything you don’t have.
The angel doesn’t promise easy miracles:
"I am no promise borne on easy air,
But life whispered softly when days are hard to bear."
He only promises one thing: presence. I will stay here, and I will never part.
I wrote this thinking about anxiety, insomnia, those thoughts that come at 3 a.m. when “all the world is still.”
I didn’t want to write a motivational song. I wanted to write a song that feels like a place to sit down. A shelter.
We have all needed, at least once, to hear someone tell us: “remember you have worth.” With no conditions.
"Remember this: you are of precious worth,
And there is time to let your hope find birth."
The full lyrics
For those who want to read it slowly, here are the lyrics to Light in the Night:
*When dark descends and all the world is still,
When troubled thoughts begin to bend your will,
I bow my head and draw myself near,
I hold you close, your trembling hand held dear.
I do not ask for smiles you cannot give,
Nor feign a sun where no bright rays can live.
But I remain, a presence calm and true,
A beacon lit when evening darkens you.
And if your step is weary, lost, unsure,
I hold you up, that you may still endure.
I am no promise borne on easy air,
But life whispered softly when days are hard to bear.
Remember this: you are of precious worth,
And there is time to let your hope find birth.
And when you wish, with neither fear nor haste,
I’ll open up a door within your pain.
And there a light still waits beyond the night,
Your soul will find again its course aright.
I will stay here, and I will never part,
Still listening close, still guarding well your heart.
Until at last you finally will see
Even in the dark... how bright you’ll be*
My wish for October 10th
I don’t hope this song goes viral. I hope it finds the right person at the right moment.
If you are feeling lost, weary, or “unsure” right now, this song is for you. Not to force you to get up, but to remind you that you are not alone in the night.
Light in the Night will be available from October 10th on Spotify, YouTube and everywhere you listen to music.

Thank you for listening.
